The Bahrain Grand Prix was held at as-Sachir on 3 October 2005 and covered a distance of 57 laps of 5.41 km each, giving a total distance of 308.523 km.

Michael Schumacher, who started from second position, contested the race for the first time in his new company car, the F2005 of Scuderia Ferrari. However, the new car did not bring him any luck - due to a technical defect, he had to retire from the race prematurely.
