On 21 May 2000 the European Grand Prix took place at the Nürburgring. The race went over a distance of 67 laps / 305 km.

Michael Schumacher in the Ferrari F1-2000 started the race from 2nd position. Right at the start he was able to overtake pole setter David Coulthard, but at the same time he had to let his biggest rival Mika Häkkinen in the McLaren-Mercedes pass. During the race, Schumacher benefited from the onset of rain and was able to pass Häkkinen again.
